When you have submitted all the documents, you need to pass the Medical German Examination (Fachsprachprüfung).
Every doctor who applies for a work permit or approbation must take a specialist language test. Passing the test confirms the required level of German language proficiency to start working in Germany.
To take the Medical German Examination (Fachsprachprüfung), you do not need to enter or apply for it personally. This happens automatically when you apply for a temporary work permit (Berufserlaubnis) or approbation.
Once you have successfully passed the Medical German Examination, you are provided with a temporary work permit (Berufserlaubnis) or approbation.
The period from the interview to the first day of work can take 3–9 months. This is important to consider in terms of planning your expenses.
